Kogi Bank robbery: How food saved Police officer from being killed

The devastating effect of last week’s Thursday’s terror that rained on Isanlu area of Kogi State courtesy of armed robbers’ attack on a police station and a First Bank branch is still reverberating and fresh.

The dastardly operation, which according to reports, was carried out by about twenty-five gunmen left several persons injured and eight out of the nine police officers attached to the only station in the area dead.

The robbers had reportedly divided themselves into three with a group at the bank while another was detailed to the station to prevent the officers from being mobilised to the robbery scene.

On getting to the station, they opened fire on the officers, killing eight, three of whom were women including a nursing mother, Corporal Charity Adekeye, whose widower, going by a post by a Facebook user, Rosemary Ojochenemi Osikoya, is equally in the force.

“I Woke up to the Sad and disturbing news that my former Orderly Sgt. Adekeye Benjamin lost His Wife Charity Adekeye yesterday at the Isanlu armed robbery attack. Passionate Officer of the law, Godfearing Mother and Wife struck down in her prime in the discharge of her duties! Too painful to understand😭😭😭 What a cruel Blow by mindless killers😭 May her soul rest in Peace. Ben Adekeye: May God of Vengeance comfort you, be a Mother to your young children and punish all connected with this crime🙏🏻” Osikoya posted.

It has however emerged that the only officer at the station, Inspector Ola Alu, who escaped the invasion unhurt owed it ostensibly to divine grace.

According to Punchng.com:  “The only police survivor, identified as Inspector Ola Aleu, was said to have stepped out of the station to buy food when the robbers besieged the station. He reportedly fled on sighting the robbers.”
